A Mathematical Equation for Happiness…
We often get caught up in the craze of buy more, own more, do more. Be more productive, acquire more things, achieve greater status. However, we often forget to consider the simple math of addition and subtraction. We don't have all the time in the world, or all the resources to do or have everything we want, so when we focus on "more" in one area of our life, it leads to "less" in another.
If we work hard for more money to buy more things, it can result in less mental well-being, less time with family, and less satisfaction with the things we already have. If you spend more money on clothes, you have less to spend on traveling, or sporting events, or activities with friends and family. If you spend more time online, you spend less time outdoors, exercising, or meditating. The reverse equation is also true: If you eat less junk food, you have more (better) health. If you spend less time with the people that don't add value to your life, you have more time to spend with those that do. If you spend less time talking to (or at) others, you end up spending more time listening. Think about the value this creates in your relationships.
So dear ones, as conscious creators, I want you to consider the mathematics of addition and subtraction as you go about your week. In what areas of your life is your desire for "more" leading to less fulfillment? How can you make adjustments? In what areas do you need to subtract what doesn't add value to your life, so you can have more of what does? As my grandmother always says, "kiss the joy as it flies." Life is short. Make the most of it. Love,
Caroline
